Why it is growing

What is changing around DeMotte

  • INDOT is rebuilding the I-65/SR 10 interchange with roundabouts at both ramps (about $4.2 million; construction expected to start in 2026). Source
  • Jasper County approved an Amazon Web Services data center campus in nearby Wheatfield Township in June 2026: about $7 billion and about 250 jobs. Source
  • DeMotte won state approval in 2021 to extend water and sewer service outside town limits. Source

Good to know

  • Named for Congressman Mark L. DeMotte; the post office opened in 1882.
  • Touch of Dutch Festival, the second Saturday of August: Dutch baking, wooden-shoe dancers, a parade and a 5K.
  • Spencer Park has the town pool and the Depot Museum.
  • Sandhill cranes gather by the thousands each fall at Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife Area, about half an hour south.
